Police investigating a break-in at a pharmacy in Sandown in the early hours of this morning (Friday) have arrested a Ventnor man on suspicion of burglary.
As first reported by Island Echo, a burglar used a brick to gain entry to Jhoots Pharmacy – near Sandown Health Centre – at around 05:00.
Police were called to the scene to investigate, where it was discovered that some medication was allegedly stolen.
Earlier this afternoon, Police moved in to arrest a man at Newport Bus Station. Police have since confirmed that a 44-year-old man from Ventnor has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and using threatening or abusive words or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.
Island Echo understands that a bag – believed to contain some medication – was seized by Police.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has since confirmed that the arrest is linked to the ongoing investigation into the burglary at Jhoots.
The arrested male remains in custody at this time.
