Ventnor Rugby Club has hosted a special memorial match in honour of club legend Tristan Price, bringing the community together to raise funds for his family following his tragic death in a road traffic collision in January.
The match saw an ever-changing Ventnor RFC XV take on a side assembled by Executive Command, the company Tristan had worked for.
Played in great spirit and with strong commitment from both teams, the result was of little importance on the day, with all focus placed firmly on supporting Tristan’s loved ones.
Ventnor’s tries came from Tom Branagh, Max Henley, Jack Gilbey, Adam Wade (2), Chris Rose, Max Wheeler (2), Regan Newbury (2), John Waghorn, Tommo Engelgardt and Pat Banks.
Off the pitch, the event proved a major success, with a barbecue, raffle and auction – alongside voluntary donations – all contributing to the fundraising effort.
A large squad represented Ventnor on the day, captained by Jack Rushton and including Pat Banks, Paul Berry, James Blake, Beau Bridgeman, Henrik Brown, Ewan Castle, Tommo Engelgardt, Mike Flanagan, Jack Gilbey, Max Henley, Duncan Kenny, Charlie Magnurson, Lewy Morton, Regan Newbury, Jack Price, Iain Reeves, Aaron Robinson, Chris Rose, Tom Scadden, Blake Tombleson, Adam Wade, John Waghorn, Ben Westbrook, Harvey Wheeler, Max Wheeler, Warren Riches and Olly Wood.
Regan Newbury was named A.J. Wells Man of the Match, while Adam Wade earned the Red Funnel Moment of the Match.
Clive Cardwell-Hill officiated as referee and Master of Ceremonies, with Danny Winter recognised as Howden Insurance Supporter of the Day.
