Female golfers from across the Isle of Wight competed for honours at Newport Golf Club as 13 teams of 4 took part in this year’s Isle of Wight Ladies Golf Association Centenary AM-AM competition.
Sarah Nye and Julie Miller, from Shanklin and Sandown, teamed up with Osborne’s Joy Jenkins and Mandy White to take victory with a score of 91 points.
They finished just 1 point ahead of the second-placed team of Newport’s Jane Gray, Westridge’s Helen Whittaker, Osborne’s Ann Geary and Shanklin and Sandown’s Sally Kavanagh, who recorded 90 points.

Third place was decided on countback after 2 teams finished with 86 points.
Chris Gould of Shanklin and Sandown, Kate Craig of Newport, Margaret Butler of Osborne and Di Clark of Freshwater Bay secured third spot.
They edged out Freshwater Bay’s Sue Keen, Ryde’s Julia Fauvel, Osborne’s Melanie Cross and Shanklin and Sandown’s Jacky Cook.
Isle of Wight Ladies Golf Association President Maggie Ankers presented the prizes alongside association Captain Stephanie Hart.
