A woman has suffered serious injuries following a single vehicle collision in Godshill last night (Saturday).
Police were called at around 22:55 to reports of a single vehicle collision on the High Street in Godshill.
At the scene a white VW Transporter, travelling toward Sandford, collided with a brick wall opposite Godshill Model Village.
A plethora of resources from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service were called to the scene with Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance also requested.
Having tended to the casualty on the ground for around 60 minutes, the casualty was transferred to the helicopter and conveyed to Southampton General Hospital.
Police have since confirmed that a woman in her 30s suffered serious injuries.
Road closures were put in place until the early hours whilst police carried out initial investigations into the collision.
Southern Vectis buses were forced to divert during the incident but have since returned to their usual route.
Hope they did a breath/blood reading test
If a motorist was doing 20mph in what is
a 20mph zone then surely the accident
would not have been so bad.
The SO called Island authorities think 20mph
signs make motorists stick to the rules
THEY DON’T hence the need for speed camera’s
but they don’t always slow motorists down
How many motorists don’t display their registration
plates or use fake plates
SO THE BEST AND ONLY WAY IS TO PLACE
SPEED HUMPS IN VARIOUS PLACES SO VEHICLES
CANNOT GO OVER THE SPEED LIMIT.
You don’t know that speed had anything to do with this accident. There could be several other reasons. So no need to SHOUT.
I am just stating if you are doing the maximum speed of
20mph along this 20mph street and hit a wall etc
I cannot imagine much damage, hence 20mph
is there for a reason.
