Priory School in Whippingham have organised an ‘eco week’, 1 objective of which was to protect our seas. This was an Eco-Council (pupil) led initiative, in which all subjects delivered their content through the medium of the coral reef and related issues, for example, acidification of the seas in Science, the impact of storms on coastlines in Geography and how technology is being used to help coral reefs in Computer Science. As part of the week, the Eco-Councillors also led our full school assembly and Mufti Day, the proceeds of which went to Blue Seas Protection, a specialist marine conservation charity based on the Isle of Wight. Mr Lloyd said:
“I am very proud of their achievements, and I believe they have prompted us all to consider how we might better protect our precious seas and fragile sea life. They have also developed the skills of leadership, teamwork, communication and resilience in putting together a unique week of study, discussion (e.g. their assembly) and reflection. “Well done to all Eco-Councillors.”
