Police on the Isle of Wight are continuing their search for 22-year-old Rosie Johnson, who went missing from Wootton earlier this week.
Officers are conducting targeted door to door enquiries in the New Road area to speak with local residents, particularly those with boathouses and outhouses. It is hoped that revisiting this area will yield clues as to where the PGL staff member has disappeared to.
It is thought that Rosie was last seen in New Road in a ‘distressed’ state, possibly as a result of an argument, at around 22:15 on Sunday night. She was reported missing on Monday when she failed to turn up for work as normal. The search got underway on Tuesday morning – around 36 hours after she was last sighted – before an appeal was issued mid-afternoon.
Hampshire Constabulary say that at this time there have been no further confirmed sightings of Rosie, or confirmed CCTV hits. They also say there is no evidence of third party involvement. Those leading the investigation have refused to comment on who was last to see Rosie and whether or not they believe Rosie is still alive.
The search was scaled back yesterday following 2 days of intensive searches by Police, WightSAR, Hants SAR and HM Coastguard. The operation has attracted national media attention with the local and wider community asking ‘where is Rosie Johnson?’.
Rosie’s family are being supported at this time having flown down to the Island from Scotland on Tuesday night.
Rosie is said to have mousey brown hair and is of slim build. She was last seen wearing a dark blue puffa jacket and trousers.
