Ryde Museum’s ‘Night at the Museum’ event proved a huge success with vital funds raised to help secure the museum’s future.
As previously reported by Island Echo, the Museum of Ryde feared for the future with funds running low and overheads increasing but this week’s event has now somewhat eased those concerns.
A raffle was held which raised over £800, 69 tickets for the event were sold raising £1,725 and so far £320 has been donated on the JustGiving site. The museum also received 2 very generous donations of £3,000 and £1,000!
Guests were greeted in the atrium of the Arcade with a lovely display of the many many raffle prizes that had been donated by local businesses.
Descending the stairs into the atmospherically lit museum guests were welcomed with a glass of wine which they could enjoy whilst wandering around. Volunteers were on hand to discuss and guide around the many wonders the museum holds.
Canapes made by Pickle & Dill of local Isle of Wight cheese were generously donated by the IOW Cheese company and charcuterie, Snowdonia cheddar, smoked salmon and cream cheese blinis circulated the rooms.
A whisky tasting area was also set up in the war room, with Sip & Smoke’s Jason on hand to discuss the flavours and origins of each one.
There really was so much support in the room for the museum and so many eager to continue to support and lend their expertise in the future.

Am absolutely humbled by the response , goodwill and donations. As a volunteer for Historic Ryde Society right from the very beginnings , sadly Covid and becoming a Cancer victim excludes me from actually working at the museum now, my immune system is shot away!
So I help remotely by managing the HRS FB page , we have over 1600 followers.
This is fabulous news ! Thank you everyone.
