A planning application has been submitted to change the former premises of Watson, Bull & Porter Estate Agents on Cowes High Street into the new hub for the Cowes Neighbourhood Police Team.
Currently based at Cowes Fire Station on Victoria Road, it is proposed that the Neighbourhood Police Team will move into the building at 126 High Street opposite The Anchor Inn.
According to the application documents, there will be no Front Counter but an area set aside at the front of the ground floor space will be designated for pre-arranged public appointments.
Proposed renovation works to the building include the replacement and restoration of windows and doors and will be finished in white to match the existing surroundings.
The replacements will enhance both the visual aspect of the High Street and will improve the security of the existing building.
Cowes used to have its own Police station on Birmingham Road but it was closed in 2013 and is now occupied by the marine design and manufacturing firm Spinlock.

I best park me old mobility scooter round the back of The Anchor, then they won’t see me leave!
Cowes Neighbourhood Police Team will have a presence in the town? Visible to the public, but you’ll need a pre arranged appointment to be able to speak to them!!!! Laughable!
They’re not there waiting for someone to knock at the door and I doubt very much it has someone their 24/7 so it’s not unreasonable to make appointments
So lip service then?
The pig house don’t we just love them
Now my query is why don’t they have a wroxall neighbourhood policing team? The amount of youths on scooters and folk parking on the pavements, and no where to report such behaviour!…steve
You suggesting we get a policing team for a few kids on scooters and some bad parking in Wroxall? Come on Steve, we should be able to manage our villages ourselves with a good stern word and clip round the ear hole, never did do me any harm
Ian, are you suggesting a 64 year old man chases down these (Quite frankly dangerous) whippersnappers?! We need more bobbys on the beat for Pete’s sake…Steve
Your suggesting tax payers money being spent on Bobby’s to patrol wroxall? . Use tax payers money for more important things . Typical island mentality thinking the whole world revolves around your village Steve. I’d like to see a fixed link and jobs for younger folk
Nothing like a good old fashioned debate is there Ian. Now I understand your logic but all I’m saying is wroxall isn’t what it was 60 years ago, safest parish on the island it was.
I can’t comment on the fixed link that makes my blood boil over thinking mainlanders could walk over, just the thought send my blood pressure sky rocketing…Steve
Give those kids a stern word clip em round the ear & then nip round the Darby & Joan club for an evening of whist. Could even get some fish n chips wrapped in newspaper on the way home if your ration book is up to it.
Obviously they should never have sold of the PURPOSE BUILT police station.
