cowespolicestationCowes Police Station has this week gone up for sale as part of Hampshire Constabulary’s plan to close three stations here on the Isle of Wight.

Being marketed through the commercial section of the popular buy/sell website Rightmove, Cowes’ now former station is said to be suitable for a range of alternative uses including restaurant, bar or hotel use. Alternatively conversion to 1 & 2 bedroom flats or studios is said to be appropriate.

Although no price is given, a high price is set to be reached due to the prominent location of the premises on Birmingham Road in the town and the inclusion of the Police house at the rear – a space totally 5182 square foot overall.

Back in May of this year, Hampshire Constabulary said that no police station would be sold until a suitable alternative is found for both officers and staff. Island Echo understand the team are set to relocate to Cowes Enterprise College, however this has not been confirmed.

Both Ventnor and Yarmouth Police Stations are set for the same fate, although a date is currently unknown.
