Isle of Wight households will be receiving their new annual waste and recycling guide in the post soon, with the booklets set to land on doormats by Wednesday. Each year the Isle of Wight Council produces a handy booklet that not only contains a waste collection calendar, but also pointers on how to book additional services and other guidance. The guide covers the period 1st May to 30th April the following year. Natasha Dix, the council’s service director for waste, environment and planning, said:
“Once again, I would like to thank residents for supporting the Island in reducing, reusing and recycling our waste. “Making the items that we buy, using them, and throwing them away all contribute to climate change. This means our reduce, reuse and recycle actions are more important than ever. “If you are having difficulty with your waste and recycling or want to know how you can reduce, reuse and recycle more, we will do our best to help you — just call us or get in touch on email or online.”
Any households that do not receive a booklet by the start of May are advised to contact the council’s waste and recycling team to request a copy via email on [email protected] or call 01983 823777.

It’s a booklet off stuff we all ready know, what a waste off money that the council hasn’t got
Now I know why our Council tax went up.
I have already filed the rubbish in the bin.
Lol ,they delivered me 2 for some reason ,mine went straight in recycle bin
The Numpty’s at the Council are generating more rubbish.
LOL – The swiftest move to save waste and money would be to stop printing up these leaflets – talk about hypocritical – surely it makes sense to publish all the info on the councils website, then do a news piece alerting people to the info and offer a downloadable pdf for those that need a paper copy, as well as advising that the council will print out one, if you are not internet savvy or have access to it.
Already got it a week ago. Very useful.
Waste of our money yet again IW council, they probably had a team working weeks to make it then print it and post it!! Straight in the black bin (the same place those stupid stickers went last year) the amount we get stung for to basically have our bins emptied I don’t care what they want to do because I don’t waste my time sorting and rinsing anything. All goes in the same bin and I magically get all my rubbish taken away weekly!! Black or green it’s all the same apart from green weeks I get more in.
I don’t pay over £2,000.00 a year to sort through my own rubbish,
that is what I pay the Numpty’s to do.
Lol
Furious residents have slammed their local council as a ‘joke’ after it demanded a £40 charge to collect their bins.
Locals in Coventry say the extra charge will encourage more illegal fly tippers and lead to neighbours’ rowing.
It comes after Coventry City Council warned residents they needed to sign up for paid-for garden waste collections at £40 a year or return their brown wheelie bins.
All Councils are run by the Government, hence corruption.
Why the Fcuk do we pay Council Tax?, Robbing B’stards
Why not say look at it on line! like everything else.
Not a fan of on everything on line but why not its a waste of money producing this booklet.
Ahh yes its the council of course wasting money so that would be ok then…not!
I shall recycle it in the paper bin
That’s where mine went.
Re-cycling is non existent on the Island, anyone who’s been to the dump
knows all the rubbish goes on the same pile of Sh*t!
Maybe in the future the island will re-cycle, but they are no where near providing
such service
In Pompey we had over 100 recycling points around the City
the island does not seem to have many.
Already got ours , we always keep the calendar on the fridge door. Since her stroke my wife can’t use the on-line stuff and has lost the ability to read but the colour coding means she can still feel useful without having to rely on me for everything.
