28 Islanders have now died in hospital after testing positive for COVID-19, figures from NHS England reveal.
The latest victim of the deadly virus passed away at St Mary’s Hospital yesterday with another individual passing away on Saturday, it has been confirmed this afternoon (Sunday). The death toll previously stood at 26.
22 people have now recovered from coronavirus and have been discharged from hospital, according to the Isle of Wight NHS Trust. It is hoped this number will increase when the Trust next issue a statement.
Earlier this week it was revealed through the Office of National Statistics that 3 Islanders have also died in the community (outside of the hospital environment). This makes the confirmed death toll 31.
123 confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been recorded on the Isle of Wight. This number remains fairly low, even after the start of mobile testing.
A statement from the Isle of Wight NHS Trust is expected in due course.

no longer 50/50 more like 40/60 I think if I get it I will pop over to the mainland
What a ridiculous comment! Don’t you think they have enough to do without transporting you to your hospital of choice during a lockdown!
Bye
BYE,
Why do NHS England continue to put out figures for just the hospital, its as though those who don’t die in hospital are nothing to do with the National Health !!!. The number is fairly low but the number of deaths per hundred is quite high over 24% compared to the rest of the UK at about 13%
If you decide to stay at home or delay calling for help then there is not the NHS can do about it.
stinks
