The Isle of Wight Care Partnership (IWCP) has successfully negotiated an increase in Council fee funding for residential, nursing, and home care for the 2023/2024 financial year.
However, the agreed funding uplift, while welcome, does not bring providers closer to the Fair Cost of Care figure ascertained in the central Government mandated process last year, even without considering inflation.
The IWCP secured increases of 8.2% for residential and nursing care and 8.27% for home care, up from the Council’s initial offer. Despite these increases, the care sector still faces the challenge of delivering high-quality care to residents without sufficient financial support.
Insufficient funding for social care has led to a reduction in the quality and availability of care provision. This, in turn, has a knock-on effect on the NHS, contributing to increased waiting times, fewer available beds, and overcrowded A&E departments. The IWCP continues to advocate for the Fair Cost of Care to ensure a sustainable care sector.
The IWCP has met with Bob Seeley MP to discuss these issues and is calling for a working group to be set up with the local authority to plan a move towards the Fair Cost of Care. It is crucial that the local care sector receives adequate support to continue providing essential services to the community.

Any chance you could spell our MP’s name correctly?
Mr SEELY not Mr Seeley.
Oh. I thought it was Mr Sellout.
