Nettlestone and Seaview resident Jules Hayward has announced she is standing as an Independent candidate for the ward in the Isle of Wight Council elections – due to be held next month (7th May).
A third-generation Islander and the only candidate publicly confirmed to live within the ward, Jules will campaign on a platform of community engagement, support for local business and protection of the natural environment.
Born at St Mary’s Hospital and raised on Seaview High Street, where her family ran the Seaview Hotel for 25 years, Jules has strong roots in the area.
She attended Nettlestone Primary School, where her 2 children are now pupils.
Her family has a long and established history in the Island’s hotel and hospitality industry and she grew up living and then working in her parents’ Island hotel from a young age.
Jules Hayward, Independent Candidate for Nettlestone and Seaview says:
“This community has always been home to me – I care deeply about protecting what makes Nettlestone and Seaview such a special place to live, for all generations.”
“As an Independent, I’m not tied to party politics and want to find our common ground – bringing people with different points of view together, to focus on what matters most locally.”
“If elected, it would be a real honour to represent Nettlestone and Seaview at County Hall. I will work hard, listen carefully and bring positive energy to the role.”
Jules joined Nettlestone and Seaview Parish Council last year, where she has already been involved in projects including park restoration, planning matters and local flooding concerns.
She brings more than 20 years of professional experience, including over a decade at the Ellen MacArthur Foundation in Cowes, and now runs her own consultancy from her home on Oakhill Road.
Her campaign will focus on listening to residents, supporting local enterprise – including campaigning for fairer ferry services – and working with the community to protect the character of the area.
Residents are encouraged to get in touch with Jules ahead of the election to share their views and raise local issues.
