People of all ages flocked to the East Wight Jobs, Training and Careers Fair last week in search of new careers, advice, fresh opportunities and a return to work.
Last Friday’s event ,held at Sandown’s Broadway Centre between 15:00 to 17:30, attracted people of all ages, including those looking for career inspiration, those wanting a new direction, extra training or a return to work.
Organised by Conservative MP for Isle of Wight East Joe Robertson, those present included ferry operators, Southern Water, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary, Visit Isle of Wight and HTP Apprenticeship College, Right at Home and Isle of Wight.
It is hoped that the fair will be held annually.

Speaking exclusively to Island Echo, Isle of Wight East MP Joe Robertson, has said:
“We were obviously hoping for a good turnout, although with it being on a Friday you can never be sure.
“We were really pleased with the number of people who attended, particularly the mix of ages. It was great to see young people there, alongside those in midlife who are clearly looking for a change in career direction. We welcomed individuals who may have been out of work for some time, including those who have been raising a family and are now looking to return to the workplace.”
“ The idea is that it becomes an annual thing. This is intended to be the first of something that will happen this time next year.”
