Isle of Wight resident Jack Hazlewood is hoping to raise at least £1,000 for mental health charity MIND by running 100km around Ryde’s canoe lake on 10th May.
The cause is dear to Jack’s heart as he has suffered mental health issues himself.
Jack would like to spread the message to others with difficulties that: “It’s ok not to be ok”.
Jack says:
“I am running 100km around a 0.6 mile boating lake, in Ryde.
“Having suffered my own battles for many years with alcohol addiction and my mental health, I want to raise as much awareness as possible and make it clear that it’s ok not to be ok.
“I also want to show people what is possible if you put your mind to it. Running 100km is hard. But running around a 0.6mile circle for a 100km is more of a mental challenge than physical.
“Most of all, I just want to be a little voice of hope in a world with a big mental health problem. Keeping the lights on for anyone out there who is struggling.
“Please feel free to reach out to me if you need to talk. You are not alone.”
