Pet Doctors and Medina Vets practices across the Isle of Wight are being renamed to better reflect the communities they serve.
Pet Doctors surgeries in Lake, Ryde and Newport, alongside Medina Vets in Wootton, are all changing names as part of a rebrand designed to strengthen their local identity.
After consulting with staff and clients, the practices have decided to adopt names linked to the towns in which they are based.
This means Pet Doctors in Lake will become Lake Veterinary Centre, the Newport branch will become Newport Veterinary Hospital, the Ryde surgery will become Ryde Veterinary Centre, and Medina Vets in Wootton will become Wootton Veterinary Centre.
The practices will also update their signage to show they are part of the wider CVS Vets family, with each site featuring both its local name and the parent company’s logo.
Pet Doctors joined CVS in 2011, while Medina became part of the group in 2017.
The veterinary group says the refreshed branding will make it clearer to clients that local teams on the Isle of Wight are backed by a national network of specialists and experts in veterinary care.
Despite the name changes, the same teams of vets and nurses will continue providing care across the Island.
Jayne Merryweather-Lewis, Clinical Director at the Isle of Wight veterinary group, said:
“Our veterinary practices have been part of our local community for decades and part of CVS for many years.
“Our services will be provided by the same trusted experts who are committed to offering compassionate and honest advice and clear and reliable recommendations – so that clients get the best value.
“Our new name better reflects the local communities we serve on the Isle of Wight.
“We are also proudly showing that we are supported by CVS Vets – who support our veterinary professionals in providing consistent, trustworthy care and high-quality clinical treatment.”
The group says the rebrand reflects its continued focus on care, value and service, while reinforcing links between the Island’s 4 practices and the national CVS network.

Cheaper Vet bills would be a much better idea.
So it makes it look as though they are “local”, clouding the reality that they are part of a large conglomerate that charge the earth…
That will be “the same trusted Experts” that broke my dogs leg. Independent Expert Witness report available. CVS are owned by private equity investors – in it for the money, nothing else, The rebrand is an excercise to make them look more local friendly, I would never use any of their vets and I am a experienced Professional dog trainer. Awful company, stay well clear if you value your pets.
Are there any independent vets left on IOW
What that means is they can charge more money!
