Isle of Wight discus thrower Nick Percy has sadly failed in his bid to reach the Olympic discus final on Wednesday. A throw of 66 metres – or finishing in the top 6 in his qualifying group – would have guaranteed Nick the opportunity to compete for a medal in 2 days time. Percy threw 59.87 metres in his 1st throw this morning, which he improved to 61.81 in his 2nd attempt. However, Nick only managed 58.89 in his 3rd throw and ended up finishing 12th in group A. Nick Percy’s throw was 5 metres behind his personal best of 67.73, thrown in the United States in April.

Surprised they let him throw a discus in 2024.. rainbows throwing sex toys is the new woke olympics for lefty fraggles to coo over.
And how exactly do you excel then? Just being a keyboard warrior is as good as it gets for you I imagine.
plastic Qwerty strikes again, how novel!
Amazing achievement to get to the Olympics and what a fabulous role model. Well done Nick, we were watching and cheering you on.
Fantastic achievement Nick, everyone is so proud of you.
Just getting the technical aspects of field sports (as in throwing stuff, not chasing furry creatures!) is tricky enough.
Try getting any distance on throwing discus, javelin etc? Forget it for mere mortals.
We’ve produced a handful of winners at the Olympics over the years, so just making it into the elite group to compete in Paris is a massive achievement.
