22-year-old identical triplets Charlie, Tom and Harry White have been nominated for a British Yachting Award in the category Youth Sailor of the Year.
The triplets made waves at this year’s Cowes Week, racing their Squib, Kestrel. They are veterans of Cowes Week, having 1st raced back in 2015 and have built on that experience by picking up the Musto Youth Skipper Trophy at this year’s event. Skipper Charlie plotted a course to clinch this coveted trophy with a string of strong performances in the ultra-competitive Squib class, which resulted in a strong 3rd overall.

Harry White says:
“Over the past 12 months, we have kickstarted our post-COVID sailing taking down World Records in sailing and competing in multiple dinghy and yachting events. Our nomination for the Youth Sailor of the Year Award comes after our recent success at Cowes Week 2022 in the Squib Class, after winning the overall Under 25 Team, Musto Young Skippers Trophy and finishing 3rd in Class.
“As the Squib is traditionally a 2-man boat, we go on rotation, allowing all of us to compete over the week-long regatta. After putting down some respectable results at the start of the week, we knew we were in the running for the U25 and Young Skippers Trophies. This gave us the urge to drive forward in the tail end of the week, where we secured multiple podium finishes to take home the trophies and snatch 3rd in Class overall.
“Sailing has very much brought us three all together as we keep our competitive and team spirits alive through sport. Furthermore, our experiences have allowed us to give back to our friends and club who have such a profound positive impact on our lives and I think this nomination embodies that sense of community and achievement.
“Without the support from our friends at the Royal Victoria Yacht Club in Fishbourne over the years we would never have been in this situation. We would like to thank all those who have shown us tremendous support over the years and thank you for voting.”

It’s a pun on their surname. Well done lads, you are an inspiration
Thank you! Thrilled to be able to shine a light on our youth
It’s White, because that’s the triplet’s surname.
