Immigration Enforcement have arrested 2 people found working illegally at a nail salon in Newport – and another at a corner shop in Shanklin – during raids on the Isle of Wight.
More than half a dozen Home Office officials descended on Shanklin on Friday afternoon (25th April), arriving at the door of the new Premier convenience store on Regent Street.
It is here, in the town centre, that a male was arrested for overstaying his visa following documentation checks of an employee of the shop.
The owners of the Premier shop have now been issued with a civil penalty referral notice, putting them on notice that they could be fined up to £45,000.
Later that afternoon, officers relocated to the High Street in Newport where they paid a visit to TA Nails & Beauty Salon, locating 2 males working illegally.
They too were arrested and the owner of TA Nails has been handed 2 civil penalty referral notices.
Employers found to be employing individuals illegally can face fines of up to £45,000 per illegal worker for a first breach, rising to £60,000 for repeat offences. Employers have 28 days to either pay the fine, object to the decision, or lodge an appeal.
All 3 men arrested by Immigration Enforcement have now been bailed.
A Home Office spokesperson has told Island Echo:
“Organised Immigration Crime is a multi-million pound industry, which stretches from the trafficking routes thousands of miles away through which people are brought to our country to the high streets across Britain where many of those people end up working illegally.
“As part of our Plan for Change, this government is cracking down on that criminal industry at every level, including stepping up our visits to businesses, including convenience stores and nail salons, where illegal working is taking place and increasing our enforcement action both against illegal workers and the people who employ them.”
All three have now been bailed, which means they will now disappear and continue working elsewhere illegally along with thousands of their fellow immigrants.
Why are they bailed? They are not legally allowed in the UK. Just deport them to their original country.
Once on our shores they ain’t going no where.
When they arrive in a safe country they should
stay in that country which is a safe haven.
Everyone wants to come to the UK
So they let them go again. Spot on. Way to go. That’s definitely the best way to deal with the UK immigration problem.
They should of been held in custody and deported immediately. Typical or Starmers government saying tough words but delivering weakness, except on the weak and vulnerable who are punishing for being British and working all there lives and paying tax. Quigley and co. should be ashamed.
That is why my voting days are over
“Politicians are not fit for purpose”
They don’t do anything to help the people
of the country.
When it’s time to vote, they promise us the earth
and once in power they go shy and do the opposite!
Reform will be no different, all parties work for the
same Elite bosses.
Should be straight on a plane out of here…these places are all the same, use local stores that employ local people… Keep your identity!!!
As someone who is sick of hearing assylum seekers referred to as “illegal immigrants”, it is a nonsense to arrest people who are clearly illegals as they are overstayers then release them on bail. Surely, these are exactly the sort of people who really are illegals and should be deported. Once released, they will disappear until they are caught for something else (because they cannot work legally) and are arrested and bailed again. Why can the immigration service do its job swiftly and efficiently? This sort of action, where the criminality is entirely focussed on the employer, is fuelling the anti-immigration brigade and makes it harder for genuine migrants.
Undoubtedly hardworking Asians, why not focus on the unemployed Africans that the council are dumping in our council homes.
Which council homes do you mean, exactly?
Too be honest does it matter, everyone is
entitled to have a roof over their head.
The island needs more diversity, I for one
am pleased to see the island is finally
moving into the 21st century.
We now have shops run by persons who
work really hard and open much longer hours
than Mr Smith etc.
Everyone is entitled to a roof over their head,
whoever they are.
(Whichever race etc)
Let’s not forget if other countries did not do any
harm to their countries they would not have had to
leave their country of origin.
They are now putting the scum in private dwellings with up to five years pre payed..we are so fucked..
These people are not scum, at least they are working,
there are plenty of Islanders who don’t want to work
who claim benefits, these people were grafting.
They need to go round these car wash places in Lake and Ryde where these Albanians are operating, I bet nearly all of those are illegals and crooks.
Or the Barber shops, that will be a close shave.
