Visitors arriving on the Isle of Wight by hovercraft can now step straight into a 9-seater minibus, following a new partnership between Hovertravel and Premier Rental.
The collaboration allows customers travelling between Southsea and Ryde to have a vehicle delivered directly to Ryde Hoverport, making it easier for groups to continue their journey together.
The minibuses can be driven on a standard Category B licence, meaning no additional qualifications are required. This gives groups the flexibility to appoint their own driver and explore the Isle of Wight at their own pace.
The move reflects growing demand for group and multi-generational travel, with industry data suggesting around 47% of families have holidayed with 3 or more generations in the past year.
Julie Horrocks, Head of Sales & Business Development at Hovertravel, has said:
“Travel is increasingly about shared experiences, with families and friends choosing to explore destinations together across multiple generations.
“It is vital that Hovertravel continues to work closely with Island suppliers such as Premier Rental so we can offer more flexibility and options for travellers.”
James Mogford, Rental & Logistics Manager at Premier Rental, has said:
“Partnering with Hovertravel allows us to make group travel to the Isle of Wight as smooth and convenient as possible.
“We want visitors to experience the island in all its beauty, with the freedom to explore on their own terms, in comfort and at their own pace.”

What are the rates for hire of the mini bus?
Rather pointless if that fact is not known.
They won’t do any taxi business after 2030h then..unless someone swims across from Southsea.
Great idea, but I bet both parties will milk it!.
