The family of a teenager injured in a hit and run collision in Cowes last week have released a photograph of his injuries in a bid to trace the driver who failed to stop.
Police were called to Baring Road, Cowes, shortly after 15:30 last Thursday (7th July) to reports of a collision between a car and a 15-year-old boy close to the junction with Crossfield Avenue.
The car, which is described as a small, black and low vehicle, failed to stop at the scene.
Italian student Carlo Bozzola, 15, who was visiting the Isle of Wight, suffered injuries to his face, arms, legs and knees as a result of the collision and was taken to St Mary’s Hospital for treatment.
His family have today (Wednesday) agreed for a photograph showing Carlo’s injuries to be released in the hope that it will encourage the driver of the car and any witnesses to come forward.
PC Neil Corby said:
“We are supporting Carlo and his family following this incident and they wanted this photograph released as it clearly illustrates the injuries he suffered.
“This whole incident has caused them all a lot of distress and we will do all we can to trace the driver of the vehicle involved.
“I would appeal directly to the driver to come forward immediately and to anyone else who may have information that could assist with this investigation.”
