High Park have advanced to the 2nd round of the Memorial Cup after a comprehensive victory over 10-man Pan Community at Seaclose on Wednesday evening.
Newly reformed Pan paid tribute to much-loved former manager Steve Case and respected former player Graeme Bast with messages on the backs of their shirts.
High Park dominated the game, scoring through Dan Robjant, Alex Harvey, Matt Ogden, Chris Dibsdale and Jenson Norman, with Pan also conceding an own goal.
The home side would have had a higher goal tally but for the heroics of Pan keeper Tyler Cottingham.
Pan scored a 2nd half consolation goal through Adam Drysdale.
The game was well controlled by experienced referee Brian Hayward, who red-carded Pan’s Kaylum Case (his 2nd red in 2 games) shortly before half time for what he deemed a dangerous 2-footed challenge, although the Pan player claimed he had been harshly treated.

Pan Community were involved in controversy on Saturday when awarded over 5 red cards in their match against Ryde Saints, leading to the abandonment of the game in the 80th minute.
The points have been awarded to Ryde Saints, with a detailed report being sent to the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Football Associations.
A spokesperson for Ryde Saints said:
“The first two red cards during the game came from poor tackles, which was a theme throughout the game. There was only one team that came to play football.
“Around the 80th minute, a Ryde Saints player and Pan player went up for a header, with the Saints player being barged to the floor which he took offense to and a small retaliation, which he was booked for, led to a Pan player to come running in and 2-foot challenge the Ryde Saints player – a complete sucker punch, as he was not expecting this or even able to see it coming.
“As you can imagine, this led to a scuffle whereby the player – whose horrendous actions sparked the whole events that occurred – was sent off, as well as 2 more Pan players, leading to the referee to abandon the game due to Pan receiving 5 red cards overall.
“There was at least 1 more red card brandished to Pan after the abandonment.
“Luckily, the Ryde Saints player who was subject to the horrendous actions from the Pan player is okay.”
The Saints spokesperson concluded:
“It was certainly a horrible game for the team to be involved in, especially with 3 16 year olds in the Ryde Saints team. Throughout the game, there were constant unnecessary tackles, abuse and just a complete lack of care of what their actions could result in.
“It was described by one of the team members – who has been involved in Island football for a long time – as one of the worst things they’ve seen on a Island football pitch.”
A concerned relative added:
“5 thugs got sent off; 1 should have been arrested.
“To be honest, I think a certain player should be banned for life.
“There were lots of young lads playing for Ryde Saints who were playing U16 last season and lads of 17/18 who play for fun, who might not want to play again after the thuggery on Saturday.
“Probably could have been worse it they didn’t have a strong referee.”
He alleged:
“The referee never actually saw a Pan player smash one of the young lads to the ground, then went down on top of him and punched him several times in the head, then dragged him by his hair.”
