A talented group of volunteer knitters have been helping to create winter warmer hats for those in need as part of Age UK Isle of Wight’s ongoing ‘Spread The Warmth’ campaign. Building upon the success of last year’s ‘Big Knit’, volunteer knitters have been creating cosy hats for those in need. In addition, a selection of hand-knitted twiddle muffs – offering sensory aids for those with dementia – have been created, as well as blankets that have recently been distributed to St Mary’s Hospital. The items themselves are free of charge, but the Spread the Warmth campaign encourages any contribution that individuals can afford towards them. These winter warmers are currently available in various locations including the Riverside Centre, Pyle Street Panty and Utilita – all in Newport. Age UK Isle of Wight is committed to improving the lives of older people and addressing the challenges they face. Through initiatives like the Spread The Warmth campaign, the organisation aims to make a positive impact and create a community where everyone feels included. To sponsor an item and support the cause, individuals can text AGE3 to 70711. By donating just £3, you can contribute to Age UK Isle of Wight’s core services, such as the Good Neighbour Scheme and Digital Friendly Island service which will see more demand in the colder season.
