Volunteer crew members at Cowes RNLI were tasked to assist a capsized jet-ski with engine difficulties this afternoon (Saturday).
HM Coastguard tasked the Sheena Louise to assist the personal water craft at 15:20, just minutes after it returned from a rescue operation which saw a woman with serious injuries airlifted to hospital, as first reported by Island Echo.
The jet ski and its rider had suffered an engine malfunction off the shore of Cowes, and had been being assisted by a nearby yacht. The jet ski then capsized once under tow, leaving its rider in the water.
The crew of the inshore lifeboat recovered the man who was given a blanket but declined any further treatment.
He was taken to Trinity Landing. Meanwhile the jet-ski was towed to Cowes by a local harbour commission launch.
If you or someone else is in difficulty on the coast or at sea, or if you spot what you think may be unexploded ordnance, then dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard. Further safety information can be found at https://coastguardsafety.campaign.gov.uk/.
