An Isle of Wight café has been listed for sale after expansion plans – which include a flat overlooking The Bay – were given the green light.
Blueberry’s Café on the cliff path, between Shanklin and Lake, can now be demolished and rebuilt after the Isle of Wight Council approved the proposals.
It is currently a single-storey building with an outdoor covered patio and was described as ‘tired and dated’ in planning documents.
Under the new plans, the café will have indoor seating and a 2-bed flat built on top, with a roof terrace.
Nearby Littlestairs Road residents objected, saying the building’s new height would cause a loss of privacy and light, although Council planning officers said the flat would be far enough away not be overly dominant or overbearing.
The officers said some 1st floor windows overlooking other properties would be obscured.
Those supporting the café said the business was already a success and the new plans would be a boost to the economy.
Under the planning permission, the Council has specified no customers shall be on the premises outside of working hours and the extraction or ventilation system cannot be used before 08:00 or after 17:00.
The Isle of Wight Council has also specified the living accommodation and café cannot be sold separately.
It has now been listed on Rightmove with a price of £330,000.

Err, the cliff under Blueberrys is falling away. If you look up from the beach there are many fence post bases along that stretch hanging in mid-air. Heavy building work in that spot feels like a disaster waiting to happen.
Won,t happen could it even be insured?
Have you seen the scale of the work being done right next door, by funnily enough diverting that objected, they have doubled the size of their property.
Make a nice little public house
If you send the right person a brown envelope
you will be amazed what can be done.
Its who you know
Lol
Or just carry out works without anyone knowing.
