Cineworld are planning to re-open their Isle of Wight cinema on 10th July, subject to the Government lifting the lockdown restrictions as expected at the beginning of next month.
With lockdown being eased week-by-week, businesses are starting to trade once again and it is anticipated that cinemas will be allowed to re-open from 4th July.
With this in mind and knowing that Islanders are missing the cinema, Cineworld plans to screen its first film at the Furlongs complex in Newport on Friday 10th July.
A number of great films are expected to be shown in the coming weeks and months including Mulan, Tenet, A Quiet Place Part II, No Time To Die and many more.
Throughout the complex social distancing measures will be implemented and all toilets will be stocked with anti-bacterial hand soap. There will also be a number of hand sanitisation stations for customers and employees. An enhanced cleaning programme will be implemented to clean and sanitise the high touchpoints within the cinema.
One of the biggest changes will be the lack of a physical ticket. Tickets will be available to book in advance online and via the Cineworld app. Confirmation emails will be used as tickets.
The capacity of each screen is expected to be reduced with a new seating plan to ensure a safe distance between customers, whilst allowing family members to sit together. In addition, film start and end times will be staggered to reduce the number of customers crossing paths and to prevent a buildup of crowds in the foyer.
Protective screens will be implemented at concessions and all still will accept contactless payments.
The opening date is subject to final clarifications and confirmation in regards to UK government restrictions.

Is this the same Branch of Cineworld that disgracefully binned all their staff at the first whiff of the lockdown?
