Islanders are expected to flock into the centre of Newport on Wednesday (28th March) for the opening of the Isle of Wight’s first B&M store.
The national discount retailer, which has taken over the former BHS store on the High Street, will be opening the doors for the first time at 09:00.
The official ribbon cutting will be carried out by staff from the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary – the chosen charity of B&M Newport for 2018. They will also receive £250 in vouchers.
B&M’s arrival in the form of a Bargains store has seen the creation of more than 35 jobs. It comes just months after Home Bargains opened in Carisbrooke.
Tom Cruse, Store manager of the Island’s B&M store has said:
“The new team have been working really hard to get the store ready for opening day and we can’t wait to get the doors open on next Wednesday and show customers their very first ever B&M on the Island.”
The Newport store will be open 08:00-20:00 on Good Friday and Saturday 31st March, will be closed Easter Sunday but open 08:00-18:30 on Easter Monday.
B&M was formed in 1978 and is now one of the leading variety retailers in the UK. From its first store in Blackpool, B&M has grown to over 560 stores and employs over 28,000 staff.
