Bembridge Little Theatre Club has celebrated a bumper 2022 and has started 2023 in a positive manner handing over a £600 cheque to a local prostate cancer support group.
2022 saw them doing what they have become well known for during their 30-year history – staging popular, professional-quality entertainment, and raising much-needed funds for local charities.
At the group’s recent AGM, they celebrated the talents of the casts and crews who brought us the 2 main shows of the past year, Blithe Spirit and Lettice and Lovage, both of which played to sell-out audiences.
BLTC also supported new kids on the block GASP with their production of Pirates of Penzance, and with them co-hosted the very popular Carols and Mince Pies which got Bembridge’s Christmas off to a cracking start.
At each event, a raffle was held, with all proceeds going to BLTC’s chosen charity of the year which for 2022 was the Isle of Wight Prostate Cancer Support Group, who works to provide free PSA testing for Island men and support those with a prostate cancer diagnosis.
As well as donating to the Island Food Bank charity, BLTC were delighted to present Alan Taylor and Roy Colledge of the IWPCSG with a cheque for £600.
Moving into 2023, BLTC’s chosen charities will be Embracing Age and Independent. Arts, both of whom do amazing work on the Island.
You can support them, and BLTC, by coming along to Bembridge Village Hall to see the next play, The Actress in May – and by buying a raffle ticket. Tickets for the show can be purchased online at https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/Bembridge-Little-Theatre-Club.
