The Wight AID Foundation continues to grant and support local charities in their latest round of grant applications, with a total of £4,000 awarded this time around.
Wight AID raises funds from Island companies, investors and individuals looking for an effective way to support our unique community and distributes to a range of charities and good causes on the Isle of Wight.
Thanks to donations already received this year from IFPL, PM Electronics, JMC, Glamping the Wight Way, Bevan Young, Yarmouth Harbour and public donations, Wight AID ha sbeen able to help 3 local charities this month.
Niton Preschool have been awarded £3,000 towards the repairs of their building. This project will retain the service provided in Niton Village for children aged 1 to 5 years. Niton preschool have been providing childcare since 1994, signposting and supporting families in the community and offering an extended service to school children within half terms.
Cowes Sailability are awarded with £1,180.35 towards the berthing, storage and insurance for their new boat (Dougal II) ready for the 2018 season. Cowes Sailability is a charitable organisation run by volunteers who offer sailing and recreational boating opportunities for adults and children with physical disabilities, additional learning needs and debilitating long term conditions.
Cruse Bereavement Care has been awarded £250 plus ferry travel towards 2 specialist training courses. Once completed Cruse can provide additional supervisors to support bereavement volunteers. This is a required professional standard for supervision which will widen the accessibility of the local Cruse support.
