A multi-vehicle collision is blocking the main road between Sandown and Bembridge this afternoon (Thursday).
The incident has occurred on Sandown Road – between Longlands Cottages and Culver Down – and has seen a Ford Transit and a Chevrolet.
Police, fire and paramedics were called to the scene at 15:39, following reports of a crash.
Those involved are being tended to in the back of an ambulance. It is unclear if any serious injuries have occurred.
Traffic in the area is heavy as a result of the crash, and the fact that there are 2 Southern Vectis buses and a lorry transporting a static caravan stuck near the road closure.
Southern Vectis route 8 buses are currently not serving stops between Bembridge Airport and Yaverland.
UPDATE @17:30 – It has been confirmed by police that no serious injuries were sustained during the incident, with only minor injuries being reported.
A spokesperson for Hampshire and IW Fire and Rescue Service said a crew from Ryde attended the scene, with firefighters aiding other emergency services in making the scene safe.
Both vehicles have now been recovered however Island Echo understands at the time of publishing that the main road remains closed whilst an operation to free the road of debris takes place.
