A fire in a cafe in East Cowes – just metres from the under construction local fire station – resulted in a callout for fire crews this afternoon (Thursday).
Crews from Newport were called to the scene at Artisan Cafe on York Avenue, at around 12:45.
Firefighters equipped in breathing apparatus have entered the eatery using a single hose reel jet to tackle the blaze.
Able to swiftly bring the fire under control, positive pressure ventilation is being used to rid the premises of any lingering smoke.
Those working in the neighbouring tattoo studio and barbershop were evacuated.
