Two people have been arrested on drug charges, including conspiracy to supply, following raids in Cowes this morning (Monday).
Officers raided three properties in Cowes after warrants were issued as part of investigations in to the supply of Class B drugs on the Isle of Wight. A police presence was seen to be gathering in the Somerton Park and Ride car park in the early hours of this morning, ahead of the raids.
One of those arrested was a 17-year-old boy, who has been detained on suspicion of conspiracy to supply a Class B drug and conspiracy to conceal criminal property.
A 33-year-old man was also arrested as part of the raids, on suspicion of conspiracy to import a Class B drug with intent to evade a prohibition/restriction, conspiracy to supply a Class B drug, conspiracy to conceal criminal property, and conspiracy to produce a Class B drug.
Both of those arrested remain in custody at this time.
A Police spokesperson said:
We take a tough stance on drug dealing as it is often connected to other offending, such as high levels of violence or even the exploitation and abuse of vulnerable adults and children.
We encourage the public to continue to provide information to us about issues in your area so we can build a stronger picture of what is taking place.

Good to see the police are taking an aggressive stance with druggies on the island
…yes, and I hope it continues, for it still has a long way to go.
I have even seen young teenagers, still children, smoking the pungent weed – they hook ’em young.
Here in West Wight youths continually ride round most evenings on motorbikes are the deliverers. Apparently this has been reported many times, so I don’t understand why this continues unchecked.
The situation here has actually become ominous and quite frightening. The island only a short time ago, was a lovely peaceful place in which to bring up a family. People moved here for that reason, but now the reverse is true, as the drug culture takes hold.
We’ll done chaps. Keep up the good work. It is appreciated.
Fantastic result keep up the good work on the island guys.
I’ve often wanted to report suspected drug activity being a taxi driver, however, I didn’t want to get involved because I value my life.
Time and time again I’ve taken passengers to various addresses and returned them back to the first pick-up point after a very short meeting with who ever thay were dealing with.
If I reported suspicious behaviour by my passengers, they could put two and two together and I could be beaten up or killed..
I thank our police for the work they do, but I could not be protected if I reported drug crime…
Brilliant, good job performed by our IOW Police. To all the drug pushers and growers, they will get you, eventually. Your time is gonna come when you will be put in the silver bracelets, taken away and charged. You then have a criminal record. Is it really worth it? I think not.
Gunna get stick for this but bagging a weed dealer is not really going after what causes problems in society. #savethe£leagaliseweed. Look to the future we need something to hold the £ up with what is to come #peace&lovetoall
Agreed. CBT and addiction intervention is a type of approach that could change the criminal reprocussions on society
Weed, puff or whatever you want to call it must not be accepted as NORMAL. It’s a drug, yes kids are smoking it at a young age because they think it’s cool. What happens when they want to step up a gear, get a bigger hit and try Cocaine, Heroin or God only knows what people are getting hooked on these days……do you think this is normal, acceptable? I sure as hell don’t. Drugs are associated with so many other crimes. Druggies steal, Rob and lie their way through life to get money to buy this rubbish.
I’m afraid I have to agree with you.
Legalise drugs, treat users as patients and take the glamour away from it.
Take the money out of organised crime and what attracts vulnerable young people to that life style.
No wonder there is so much gang violence, these youngsters see a career flipping burgers in mcD’s or a gang driving fat motors and loaded with cash. Cash from drugs. Legalise the weed and decriminalise hard drugs, prescribe users and bingo…… No money for gangs, no attraction for vulnerable youngsters, no glamour, no fat motors, no guns and knives to control selling grounds and no county lines.
If young people see users as patients queuing up outside clinics to get treated with addiction, they will most likely not want to be that person.
Education and liberalisation is the way forward, not prohibition and criminalisation.
Portugal have a good system.
Its time for change.
It’s a worry that the magistrates and judges don’t hold the same sense of severity as the police when they sentence these scum. A suspended sentence maybe even a curfew for a month, wow, like that’s going to stop them.
There are drug traffickers all over the Island and have been for decades. We need to have a minimum of weekly targeting by the Police to keep the current situation under control. Well done for sorting “one” nest out in Cowes, lets hope others offer up information to target all the others. Remember it could be your son, daughter, niece, nephew, grandchild targeted by these morons wanting to make an easy buck at the expense of others.
The police are doing a brilliant job but are let down by the judges and their lenient sentences. It won’t be log before dealers are told to write 100 lines of “I must not deal drugs”
