Police are appealing for witnesses after a collision involving a car and a pensioner in Newport last week has left a man in his 70s with serious injuries.
Officers were called at 14:19 on the afternoon of Thursday 17th April to a report of a collision on St James’ Street involving a pedestrian and a white Vauxhall Corsa.
The pedestrian, a man in his 70s, was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
As part of ongoing enquiries into this incident, Police would like to hear from anyone with any information who has not yet spoken to police.
A Police spokesperson has said:
“Were you in the area at the time and did you see what happened? Perhaps you were driving through and have dash cam footage that captured the incident?
“Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting the reference number 444250167651.
Alternatively, go online and submit information via https://www.hampshire.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/cor/tell-us-about-existing-case-report/”
Some serious questions need to asked here.
What speed was the vehicle doing while passing a pedestrian crossing to cause that sort of damage, and if the driver was a learner driver, where are the L plates?
We live in a crazy world, the only persons
giving driving lessons should be qualified
driving instructors who have dual control
should they need to use it.
Nowdays any Tom, Dick or Harry thinks it
is ok to give driving lessons to save a few quid.
SHOULDN’T BE ALLOWED
You cannot go fast through the High St, too much traffic and traffic lights and his L Plate is on the bonnet, wakey wakey.
I have seen Numpty’s go fast in Newport
on many occasions.
