Nearly 200 players and parents gathered in Newport to celebrate another successful season for Wight Eagles Ladies FC.
Wight Eagles Ladies FC brought the curtain down on the 2025/26 campaign in style at their annual awards evening held at GGs Restaurant and Bar in Newport on Saturday (6th June).
Almost 200 girls and parents attended the event, enjoying an afternoon and evening of celebrations which culminated in a meal and disco for players, families and club officials.
There was plenty to celebrate for the club, including promotion for the Under-14 Blacks side after just 1 season competing in the Hampshire League.
Club Secretary Phil Collinson said:
“There was much to celebrate, including the promotion of our Under 14 Blacks side after only one season of Hampshire League football.
“But this was not only about recognising our best players. Everyone received an award because they all contributed, in whatever way, to the success of their team.”

The evening also marked the end of an era as the club said farewell to retiring Director of Football Dan Verstraeten, Secretary Scott Ronan and Treasurer Glen Warren.
All 3 were presented with gifts in recognition of their dedication and service to the club and each pledged to remain involved with Wight Eagles in the future.
Looking ahead to next season, Phil added:
“We can’t wait to get started on the 2026/27 season.
“Our training for it will start again very soon and we always welcome new recruits.”
