Wightlink will be unable to accommodate customers using wheelchairs or mobility scooters on their catamaran service next week.
Essential maintenance means that those with accessible travel needs won’t be able to travel on the Ryde Pier Head to Portsmouth service from Thursday 3rd to Tuesday 8th September.
To maintain social distancing, staff are also unable to offer assistance to customers with any luggage, bikes, pushchairs, prams or walking frames. With this in mind, customers are urged to ensure they are able to negotiate stairs on board safely without help.
Anyone with accessible travel needs should travel on the Fishbourne-Portsmouth car ferry service instead.
This arrangement could affect Hovertravel customers too should the Ryde-Southsea service be suspended.
Wightlink apologises for any changes to your travel plans.

so.. they couldn’t have carried out the maintenance whilst the cat wasn’t running for months on end. How come is it that the lifeline services still operated, the car ferries still ran, the hospitals were still open, but these layabouts couldn’t get the work done, when the most opportune moment presented itself.
