Disruption is expected on the Island Line until Saturday morning (10th February). South Western Railway has said it is necessary to cancel numerous timetabled services, because of a train fault. The issue will see trains run at just 1 an hour instead of the 2 an hour that has been the usual since last April. It is hoped that the issue will be fixed by Saturday morning.

Yikes, not again! Floods, people on the line, trees on the line, technical problems, missing staff and even strikes stop seem to be constantly stopping these trains? The only concellation is they are not quite as bad as the floating bridge or the ferries for offering a reliable service.
Maybe just forget running stories about the trains not operating and run a story when they actually do because the latter is more of a surprise.
BTW “concellation” has to be the worst spelling I have seen this week. Astoundingly bad spelling.
They have Six train units which makes this seem rather unnecessary?
IF, they had done as I suggested and tar mac’d the track, and run battery shuttle buses instead, then there would be no issues.
And cycles, horse, dog walker could then share the track, easing the danger of busy roads, and only have to pass the odd electric bus.
Are you being serious? Do you not think electric buses never break down? That would be a great mix, of pedestrians, dogs, horses, and bikes all on the same Tarmac, an accident waiting to happen.
YET pedestrians, dogs, horses and bikes NOW have to share busy, narrow, bendy, blind corner roads all over the Island. So Three or four shuttle buses driving at 30 mph with warning lights would be a FAR less risk than drunk, drugged, or just selfish idiots driving at speeds WELL above the suggested speed limit.
Is there some sort of engineering virus running amok on the Island affecting the transport services, trains , ferries what next the buses?
I thought they had five trains?
They have 5 units, so that this issue doesn’t result in a one-train service. So why are the three spares not running?
As I am told by a guard, two units are for normal service, one for a backup and the other two are in for maintance. Clearly the backup has failed.
Depending on the fault, they might have had to use a serviceable one to drag the failed out out the way.
Why doesn’t Blob Squeeley step in and sort this out for us?
