Bembridge RNLI launched its All-Weather Lifeboat yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon after a disabled angling vessel with 4 people on board lost all propulsion around 12 miles south west of the Isle of Wight.
The volunteer crew were tasked at 12:30 following reports of the stricken vessel.
The All-Weather Lifeboat arrived on scene at around 13:50 and assessed the situation.
With the vessel approximately 12 miles south west of the Isle of Wight and temperatures exceeding 30c, the safest option was to establish a tow.
Once the tow was underway, HM Coastguard advised that Seastart would take over responsibility for assisting the vessel.
Coincidentally, as the lifeboat passed Newton Creek, a Seastart vessel had just completed another task in the area, allowing the tow to be safely transferred.
Bembridge RNLI was then stood down and returned to station, with the lifeboat rehoused at around 16:29.
