Whippingham’s The Folly Inn recently celebrated the success of the summer season with a ‘resident’s party’, cementing the pub as the community’s cornerstone for locals to enjoy.
Falling in love with the island’s charm and its residents, Victoria, who started her hospitality career in Malta, decided to celebrate the success of her first summer season with a ‘resident’s party’ to celebrate all her locals alongside her husband, Lee, The Folly Inn’s Assistant Manager at the Greene King Pub & Grill site.
With a stunning picturesque waterside backdrop, the pub in East Cowes welcomed 100+ of their locals for one last summer hurrah bringing the community together for a memorable night of fun to toast the end of summer and welcome in autumn with the promise of fire-side cosy pub nights ahead.
Book-ending the tourist season, the end of summer season party was a moment for all locals to take a breath after a busy holiday season on the island and to let their hair down. All islanders were invited to come and celebrate the best the island has to offer, revelling in a celebration packed with fun for the whole family, including live local entertainment, food, drink and lots more.
Victoria Murphy, General Manager of The Folly Inn, said:
“Our locals at The Folly Inn have become like extended family to Lee and I.
“We’re a real community here. Holding an exclusive party just for residents of this wonderful island we are lucky to call home felt the perfect way to toast our first summer season at the pub and everyone’s busy summer period here on the Isle of Wight.
“It certainly was a night to remember and excellent fun with the very best local entertainment for islanders to sit-back and enjoy. We couldn’t believe the turn-out! We promise to make it an annual celebration and look forward to next year’s already!”

I’ve never met people more full of themselves than these two. You don’t own the Folly and lots of us cant WAIT til you leave like every other manager. Dead baby crab in a bread roll isnt going to cut it with “your extended family” the stupid ropes you have put up to prevent people going to the balcony is totally pathetic
East Cowes people will not be prevented from using the carpark we’ve used for 50 years either. We just won’t spend a penny in OUR Folly until you’ve gone. Maybe look up the word humility
