A Bembridge restaurateur has denied 4 serious charges, including intentional strangulation and making threats to kill, and is due to stand trial later this year.
58-year-old Weizhong Liao, of Lu Shun Restaurant on Sherborne Street, appeared before the Isle of Wight Crown Court last week, where he entered not guilty pleas to charges of intentional strangulation, intentional suffocation, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and making threats to kill.
The charges all relate to allegations said to have occurred in Bembridge on 6th June this year.
Mr Liao has been remanded in custody to appear before the Crown Court for a 3-day trial on 30th November 2026.
A Cantonese interpreter has been arranged for the proceedings.
