Firefighters successfully tackled a fire at a flat in the heart of Sandown overnight.
It was at just before 23:15 last night (Saturday) that black smoke started issuing from the top floor windows of a block of flats on Albert Street.
999 calls were made, resulting in 2 appliances from Ryde and Shanklin being mobilised by Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service.
Upon arrival, firefighters were committed to the building to tackle the fire from within.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service deployed an ambulance and operational commander to the scene, indicating injuries may have been sustained.
Police also attended.
