Staff at The Needles Landmark Attraction in the West Wight are said to have been left devastated by the death of a friendly and camera-loving local fox, which was found in a pool of water on Friday morning in unclear circumstances.
The body of the small female was found by staff at the tourist attraction, who are said to have loved the ‘resident pet’ with great fondness. They had nicknamed the ‘friendly and tame’ fox, ‘Gus’.
CCTV footage has captured several people roaming around the area overnight on Thursday into Friday, however it does not show if they approached or had any contact with the fox.
Local Police yesterday (Tuesday) attended The Needles Landmark Attraction. They are remaining alert for any suspicious or unusual animal-related incidents in the area.
Anyone who may have information relating to this animal-related incident should contact Police on 101. Information can be given anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
