For the first time in 60 years, Shorwell Midsummer Fair will be held at Wolverton Manor when the event returns on 24th June.
After 6 decades of being held at Northcourt House, the new venue is an equally historic Jacobean manor built by Sir John Dingley, a physician for King James I in the 1600s. Interestingly, his nephew was the Governor of Carisbrooke Castle who handed James’ son, King Charles I, over to the Parliamentarians before he was ultimately executed.
Speaking after the move was announced, Secretary Ben Lambert said:
“The committee would like to thank Christine and John Harrison for allowing the previous events at Northcourt; their support, generosity and hard work will never be forgotten.”
He added:
“The fair will continue in raising as much money as possible, with all proceeds being donated to organisations in and around the local community.
“We look forward to welcoming both returning and new visitors in supporting the next adventure of this great local event.

This year’s fair will take place on Saturday 24th June between 13:00 and 17:00.
