A 35-year-old woman from Ryde has been charged with drink driving after Police tracked down a vehicle at Wightlink’s Portsmouth terminal following a reported collision.
The incident unfolded after a collision was reported to Police late yesterday evening (Sunday).
Police in Pompey caught up with the vehicle at Wightlink’s mainland vehicle ferry terminal on Gunwharf Road.
At the scene, 35-year-old Sophie Cawthray from Ryde was arrested and spent the night in custody on the mainland. A dog was also taken into the care of Police, Island Echo understands.
It is alleged that Ms Cawthray blew more than 3x the legal drink-drive limit of 35 when she was tested at the roadside.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has today (Monday) confirmed that Sophie Cawthray, of Ryde,, has been charged with driving a motor vehicle with alcohol level above the limit.
She will appear at Portsmouth Magistrates Court on 3rd September.
