A 35-year-old woman from Ryde has been charged with drink driving after Police tracked down a vehicle at Wightlink’s Portsmouth terminal following a reported collision.
The incident unfolded after a collision was reported to Police yesterday (Sunday).
Police in Portsmouth caught up with the vehicle at Wightlink’s mainland vehicle ferry terminal on Gunwharf Road.
At the scene, a 35-year-old woman from Ryde was arrested and spent the night in Police custody on the mainland. A dog was also seized, Island Echo understands.
It is alleged that Ms Cawthray blew more than 3x the legal drink drive limit of 35 when she was tested at the roadside.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary have today (Monday) confirmed that 35-year-old Sophie Cawthray, of the St John’s area, has been charged with driving a motor vehicle with alcohol level above the limit.
She will appear at Portsmouth Magistrates Court on 3rd September.
