More than 3,500 spectators enjoyed the third Isle of Wight Sheepdog Trial at the start of the month, with an incredible £17,659 raised for Mountbatten. The crowd brought chairs, picnic blankets and their loved ones to enjoy watching 50 dogs from across the UK compete on the sunny Isle of Wight. Saturday was won by former World Champion, Aled Owen from Wales, and Sunday’s trial was won by former English Nationals Winner, Jed Watson from Devon. The event, which is run by a voluntary committee, aims to provide both a national qualifying trial on both days, as well as a rural event to celebrate and demonstrate a countryside skill. As in previous years, 2024’s trial was raising vital funds for Mountbatten with 100% of the profits going to the worthwhile cause. Ian Wheeler, of the event volunteer committee, has said:
‘There are many people to thank who help make this event a success we really don’t know where to start. However needless to say we are over the moon to announce a donation of £17,659 to the hospice from the 2024 event”.
The dates for next year’s event have already been confirmed as 7th/8th June 2025. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jk58hD4TXsI

Fantastic achievement!
Hope all the dogs were found innocent.
