A spokesperson for the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed this afternoon (Sunday) that a further 3 men have been arrested on suspicion of murder and arson with intent to endanger life after Friday’s fatal house fire.
As previously reported by Island Echo, officers were called at 03:32 on 26th June to reports of a fire at an address on Ronsons Close, Cowes.
Officers attended along with colleagues from Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service and Isle of Wight Ambulance, where a man in his 20s was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
It has been said that as part of their fast-paced investigation, officers arrested 3 men last night.
2 24-year-old men and a 59-year-old man, all from Cowes, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and arson with intent to endanger life. The trio remain in custody whilst police enquiries continue.
On Friday, Island Echo reported that a 28-year-old man from Ventnor was arrested on suspicion of murder, arson with intent to endanger life and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
The man has since been bailed with conditions until 27th September to allow for further enquiries to be carried out.
