Hope all are ok, and unaware of circumstances etc, but this is getting to be a serious issue now!! How many serious crashes and multiple vehicle incidences in the last few weeks??
There needs to be Speed Cameras and Traffic Calming etc to Stop Speeding.
I honestly think half of them need to open their eyes. Oh, and engage their brains.
MOST drivers have no respect for speed limits, observe the rules of the road and you should have time to avoid a collision..
Give yourself more time for your journey, and respect the weather conditions, if you don’t then there will be another collision along soon…
However, I understand at times a collision can be unexpected due to a medical episode..

IW must be the only place in UK that does not have Speed Cameras.
It won’t stop them unless they change their attitude, we have a massive problem that needs addressing..
How! Perhaps more traffic police and much stronger punishment, because its going to reflect on all of us through the cost of our insurance..
Just give yourself more time before your journey, and respect the speed limits, most of all, change your attitude when behind the wheel, try to have a more relaxed journey.
If you’re running late, it’s your fault, not other drivers…
The Island Roads are crazy.
The Highways Department need to make the Roads safer.
I wondered what had happened, many cars cut off to Newchurch direction via Coach Lane
It was then GRIDLOCKED on the way through KNIGHTON
If it was not for the BARROW BOYS VAN who provided excellent traffic control, we would all be there now.
Very well done and a big Thank you for unlocking the Gridlock.
Merry Christmas and stay safe.
Typical Island over-reaction to what was not a major incident, but a minor accident involving several cars which has suddenly become a real drama.
O.K we all got held up for a while big deal.

There were actually Five vehicles involved, all seriously damaged – including one parked on private land. Three vehicles with front suspension wrecked and ripped off. Cars spread along 50metres of road.
I don’t count that as ‘minor’.
Police kept the main road closed for almost 3 hours. Altogether, a huge cost to the community.
Thankfully, no major injuries, thanks to modern vehicle design.
So who said they was speeding ?
I used to live on New Road, the cars and vans all parked down there are the problem restricting space on the road and pavements should be yellow lines the whole way through, same goes for the stretch of road opp carisbrooke garage and outside chant lock gunville, thats absolutely ludicrous how many vehicles park there now its very dangerous
As a general guide, the more kerbside parking, the slower the traffic.
There is plenty of width on New Road for even the largest vehicles.
Full artics can pass each other.
A nice, clear road encourages speed.
Speed alone, does not necessarily cause collisions, mostly, it is down to drivers not paying proper attention to what they are doing, or not responding properly to circumstances.
The Isle of Wight Council encourage Pavement Parking by not installing yellow lines
