School leavers at The Priory School were treated to the red carpet treatment on Friday 11th September for their formal goodbye from the school.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the event could not be held in June as originally planned. However, the School and all the Leavers’ families felt it was important to make sure the students had their day – albeit later than usual.
As with tradition for the School Leavers, all the student donned their finery to walk the red carpet enthusiastically clapped on by the whole school, to their waiting chariot – Southern Vectis’ Old Girl open top bus, on which they had a short tour of parts of the Island, waving from the top to all spectators as they passed by in fine style!
All of the students together with their invited tutors were then treated to a sit down 3-course meal at Albert Cottage, who did the gathering proud. The whole afternoon was enjoyed by everyone, in beautiful surroundings and fine weather.
The Head of Senior School Mrs Soar was delighted her students were not deprived of their day.
“This year has been challenging for everyone, our leavers this year coped remarkably well, and managed to achieve outstanding results. As a school we like to celebrate their successes and this is our way of recognising the value they added to the school, and to provide a final celebration.”

‘Doesn’t look as though much “social distancing” was practiced, looking at the pictures.
Glad they could have their day . Best wishes to all
What a fine bunch of English roses and young men. Hope they find work in this difficult time and with so many from overseas now filling our nation. Good luck all, and hope you don’t need it.
