A former soldier has admitted possessing military distraction hand grenades, ammunition and Class B drugs after appearing before the Isle of Wight Crown Court.
Joshua Langley, 30, of St Saviours Road in Totland, appeared at the Isle of Wight Crown Court charged with 6 offences.
Langley admitted a single charge of making/having an explosive substance – namely military distraction hand grenades, 3 counts of possession ammunition for a firearm certificate without permission and 2 counts of possession of a controlled drug of class-B.
Police recovered 15 9mm Parabellum bulleted cartridges in Totland Bay, 11 Radway Green 5.56x45mm NATO bulleted cartridges in Newchurch, one 5.56x45mm NATO bulleted cartridge in Newport and one 7.62x51mm NATO bulleted cartridge.
The offending took place between 15th-21st January 2025.
Prosecutor, Tim Devlin, told the court that the offences occurred just after Langley had been discharged from the Army. The 30-year-old said he “didn’t know” he had the ammunition “on him”.
Defending, Oscar Vincent, told the court that his client had been interviewed by Police 3 times and that the case would benefit from the compilation of a pre-sentence report.
The case has been adjourned until 9th September.
