A 76-year-old Whippingham man has admitted making almost 145,000 indecent images of children and possessing extreme bestiality material.
Peter Kirby, of Folly Lane, appeared before a judge this morning (Friday) charged with 5 offences alleged to have taken place in East Cowes between February 2019 and March 2023.
Kirby entered guilty pleas to a trio of making indecent image charges. The court heard how 986x Category A indecent images of children, 1,227x Category B images and a 142,265x Category C images were found in his possession.
The 76-year-old also admitted possessing 5 prohibited images of a child and a further charge relating to an extreme pornographic image portraying an act of intercourse/oral sex with a dead/alive animal.
Little detail about the offending was disclosed during the hearing in which Kirby only spoke to confirm his name and pleas.
The court heard how Kirby was a man of previous good character.
The case was adjourned so that a pre-sentence report could be compiled. Kirby, who was granted unconditional bail, is next due at the Isle of Wight Crown Court on 17th September.

Our justice system gets worse by the day, he now has three months of freedom before he is sentenced, with his perverted beliefs what is he doing in that time and as someone has already said, good character, how can you say that when the reverse is patently true. Mind you , knowing our judiciary he will at worst only get a suspended sentence.

That is tge only suitable sentence, but by giving him unconditional bail which is ridiculous as there is a schol near by, the court are indicating a non custodial
