SeaSafe has strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of industry veteran Nigel Parkes as Managing Director, securing the future of one of the UK’s last remaining lifejacket manufacturers.
After more than 33 years at the helm of the Cowes-based company, founder Jeremy Dale OBE Hon FNI is stepping into the role of Chairman as part of a planned leadership transition.
Rather than retiring, Jeremy says the move is about investing in SeaSafe’s long-term future. He will work closely with Nigel during the handover before gradually taking on a more strategic, behind-the-scenes role.
Nigel brings more than 30 years of experience in the marine safety industry. He began his career at Ocean Safety before specialising in lifejacket manufacturing at Remploy, later spending 17 years with Crewsaver and Survitec before serving for 5 years as Managing Director of Mustang Survival UK.
Throughout his career, Nigel has developed extensive expertise in product development, manufacturing and servicing. He has also worked closely with industry organisations including ILAMA, BSI and other international regulatory bodies and professional organisations, helping to shape and maintain the highest standards of marine safety.
His appointment further strengthens SeaSafe’s experienced leadership team and reinforces the company’s commitment to British manufacturing and innovation.
Jeremy Dale OBE Hon FNI said:
“After building SeaSafe over the past 33 years, I’m incredibly excited about what the future holds.
“Bringing Nigel into the team significantly strengthens our business and ensures we’re well positioned for future growth. As one of the last remaining companies to manufacture lifejackets entirely in the UK, SeaSafe is in a uniquely strong position.
“Together with Factory Manager Keith Friar, I believe we now have a level of expertise within our leadership team that is second to none in our industry.”
Nigel Parkes said he was proud to be joining the business at an important point in its history:
“I’m delighted to be joining SeaSafe as Managing Director. I’ve known and admired SeaSafe’s reputation for many years, and it’s a privilege to become part of the team.
“I’m looking forward to working closely with our colleagues, customers and partners as we continue to build on the company’s success and deliver the high standards of service SeaSafe is known for.”
